Why Is Picking Window Styles So Stressful?
Did you go with casement or double-hung? I found casements tricky with furniture too, especially in tight rooms.
Yeah, I went with double-hung for most of mine - mainly because I have a sofa that pretty much owns the living room, so casements would've been a disaster. But now I’m wondering if I sacrificed a bit on the noise insulation front. Did you notice any draft issues with your casements? Also, totally get what you mean about the creaks. My house is suddenly a symphony of random pops and groans at 2am... not exactly soothing.
I totally get the stress - window choices seem simple until you actually have to live with them. I went double-hung too, mostly for the same reason: furniture layout just didn’t work with casements. I did read that casements usually seal a bit tighter, but honestly, I’ve noticed more drafts from my old doors than the new windows. The creaks are wild though... sometimes I wonder if it’s just the house settling or if I messed up the install somewhere. You’re definitely not alone in overthinking this stuff.
