How are grille upgrades usually priced on replacement windows? I’d like to understand whether the added cost depends mainly on where the grilles sit, or also on the pattern’s complexity.
Between-the-glass, interior-applied, and exterior grilles can create a similar divided-pane look from a distance, but they aren’t the same specification. Do contractors typically itemize each option separately from the base window, and what details should be written into comparable quotes so the grille style and layout aren’t being treated as interchangeable?

- The pattern name alone may not be enough to compare prices. Ask each bidder to show the grille count and layout for each sash: more bars and smaller simulated lites can add material and fabrication, even when the grille type is the same.
