Yeah, sanding vinyl can definitely go sideways if you’re not careful. I’ve actually messed up a sill before—used 120 grit thinking it’d knock the sheen off faster, but it left these faint swirl marks that showed through after painting. Now I pretty much stick with 220 grit for vinyl, maybe even finer if I’m feeling paranoid. Light pressure, just enough to scuff the surface. It’s tempting to rush, but slow and steady’s the way to go. The worst is when you think you’ve feathered it out, then the sun hits it later and you see every scratch...
