RE: Recurring Interior Condensation: Window Problem or Indoor Humidity?
Matte tape makes an infrared reading more usable, but it is still worth treating a small difference cautiously. The tape can be at a slightly different temperature than the glass, especially near an edge or frame. For a...
RE: If My Windows Could Think for Themselves…
Definitely agree - skipping the prep always seems like a time-saver until you’re scraping off flakes six months later. I’ve had that weird, patchy peeling happen too, especially on older wood where dust loves to stick. A...
RE: Window financing deals seem kinda sketchy lately?
That heavy air thing is real - sealed up my place tight last winter and it just felt...stale. Have you looked into ERVs or HRVs? I’m curious if those actually help with the stuffy feeling or if cracking a window is just ...
RE: Tried Swapping Out My Own Windows - Regret Or Reward?
That’s the truth - those weird gaps drive me nuts. When you sliced the rod lengthwise, did it still stay put, or did you have to tack it in somehow? I’ve wondered if a dab of adhesive would help, but I’m nervous about ma...
RE: Ever notice how double glazing can cut down on street noise too?

RE: Making tiny rooms feel bigger: which windows actually help?
That’s interesting about the slim frames - do you find they actually help with insulation, or is it mostly about the look? I’ve always wondered if less frame means more drafts, especially in older houses. I do like how m...
RE: Windows that survive thin air and chilly temps
Interesting you mention HRV - I was on the fence about it too, but after installing one last winter, I noticed a huge improvement in air quality and less condensation overall. About the cellular shades, I have them in my...
RE: Finally upgraded to Kolbe windows, anyone else notice a difference?
Totally agree about installation - seen it myself. But I'm curious, does anyone think climate or humidity levels play a bigger role than we realize? Maybe certain brands handle moisture better regardless of install quali...
RE: Replacing windows without emptying your wallet
That's interesting... I've been considering interior storm windows myself, but I'm a bit skeptical about how easy the installation actually is. Did you find it simple enough to handle solo, or would you say it's more of ...
