Honestly, I think they do. I replaced 20-year-old double panes in my place—not cheap, and like you said, the energy savings weren’t jaw-dropping. But the drop in street noise was huge. Winter drafts basically disappeared too. It’s hard to put a dollar value on not hearing every truck that rolls by or not feeling that cold air sneaking in around the frames, but man, it makes a difference day to day. The payback math alone doesn’t capture that.
