I've never really understood the misting foam thing either... seems like it'd just make things messier. I've always just let it cure fully and then trimmed it back with a utility knife—works fine for me. Speaking of alignment though, has anyone tried those adjustable shims instead of regular wooden ones? Wondering if they're worth the extra cost or just another gimmick...

I've messed around with those adjustable shims a couple times. Honestly, they're pretty handy if you're working solo—makes tweaking alignment a breeze without juggling three things at once. But if you've got a helper, regular wooden shims do the job just fine and save you a few bucks. Now, speaking of foam...am I the only one who always ends up with it stuck to my clothes no matter how careful I am? Stuff's like DIY kryptonite...

Nah, you're definitely not alone. Ever tried getting that stuff out of hair? Nightmare. Any tips on avoiding foam disasters, or is it just part of the DIY initiation ritual...?

Haha, foam disasters are basically a rite of passage at this point. I remember when I replaced a window in my kitchen last summer—I thought I was being super careful, had gloves, old clothes, the whole deal. Somehow I still ended up with foam on my jeans, shirt, and even my shoes. The worst part was realizing too late that I'd tracked tiny bits of it all over the house...spent the next hour scraping dried foam off the hardwood floors. Lesson learned: always keep a damp rag handy to wipe up any stray foam immediately, and maybe lay down a tarp or something. But honestly, no matter how prepared you think you are, foam finds a way. Just embrace the mess and think of it as proof you're officially part of the DIY club now.
