This answered questions I didn't even know I had. Bookmarked for when I start getting quotes next month!

I'll admit I was clueless about permits and code before reading this. Now I feel much more confident going into my window project.

Big thanks to @sonicbaker889 for that checklist of final inspection tips – I printed that out to use when my windows get installed next week.

Keep the stories coming! It's encouraging to hear real outcomes (good and bad). It helped set my expectations realistically.

I hope more Tampa Bay homeowners find this thread before signing any contracts. Could save them a lot of money and headaches.

Quick one: any maintenance tips for these new windows? The installer mentioned something about lubricating the tracks/springs periodically. I want to make sure I take care of them so they last a long time.
What do you all do to keep your windows in top shape year after year?
