Yeah, I’ve seen those “special” installer financing deals and they always look good at first—until you dig into the terms. I’d rather deal with a little extra paperwork up front than get surprised by balloon payments or hidden fees later. My neighbor got burned with one of those deferred interest plans... looked cheap, then wham, all the interest hit at once. Sometimes boring old credit unions really are the safer bet.
I totally get the temptation with those “no interest” deals—on paper it looks like free money. But yeah, the fine print can be brutal. When I did my windows, I made a list: 1) Get quotes from at least three installers, 2) Ask for their financing terms in writing, 3) Take those to my credit union and compare. It was a pain, but in the end, the credit union loan was clearer and actually cheaper once you factored in all the weird fees. If you’re not in a rush, it’s worth that extra step just to avoid surprises down the road.
