One more thing I noticed (since we're talking about all these side benefits): with the new impact windows, when we get those typical summer thunderstorms or a lot of wind, my windows don't rattle or whistle anymore. My old windows used to literally shake and make this howling wind sound on a stormy night (which was unnerving). The new ones are rock solid β wind noise is greatly reduced and no more rattling frames. It's a small detail, but it makes riding out our Florida storms a bit more comfortable and less noisy. Just another plus I thought of while reading these responses.
Thank you all for the insights. This thread helped me make the decision to get new windows.
100% agree β the difference after installation is literally night and day.
Greetings from Carrollwood! I thought my area was uniquely noisy, but clearly it's a widespread issue. New windows helped me too.
It's unbelievable how quiet my house is now. I sometimes forget I'm in a busy area.
This thread is spot on. My place went from Grand Central Station to a quiet oasis after window upgrades.
To anyone hesitant, new windows are absolutely worth it. Trust us all here!
Hello from Land O'Lakes. Same story: old windows out, peace and quiet in.
Appreciate all the advice and stories shared. This has been super helpful for me in planning my project.
If anyone reading is still on the fence, just do it. You won't regret it.
