RE: Clerestory Windows or Skylights: Which Brings in Better Light (and Less Hassle)?
I hear you on the cleaning hassle - our new place has clerestories, and I was honestly excited at first. Now I just kind of squint past the dust up there most days. I looked into skylights but kept hearing stories about ...
RE: Foggy windows driving me nuts - what’s actually normal?
I hear you on the insulation kits - mine ended up looking like a wrinkly plastic mess, and honestly, the condensation was just as bad. I’ve started wondering if it’s actually possible to get rid of it entirely in these o...
RE: Smart glass windows at home: worth it or just a fancy gimmick?
That’s exactly what made me pause. I looked into smart glass for our front windows, thinking it’d be a cool upgrade, but once I saw a demo at night with someone walking around inside... yeah, not as private as I hoped. E...
RE: Why sealing windows near the ocean is trickier than you’d think
I’m starting to think it’s just part of the deal when you live this close to the ocean. I tried one of those “marine-grade” sealants that was supposed to last up to 10 years - no dice. By year three, it was already flaki...
RE: Struggling to pick windows that don’t make my ranch look dated

RE: Patched up my drafty window with stuff from the dollar store - anyone else surprised themselves?
I totally get the appeal - my first winter here, I used those clear plastic sheets and a mountain of duct tape. Looked pretty rough, but it actually stopped most of the draft. I always wonder if the pricier stuff would m...
RE: Swapping out old windows in humid weather - worth it?
I get what you mean about “upgrading windows is worth it, but not if you skip the air exchange piece.” Thing is, I swapped out all my 70s-era single panes last summer - didn’t add any fancy ventilation, just kept using t...
RE: Keeping Rain Out: What Actually Works for Leaky Windows?
Yeah, I had the same thought process when I first saw flashing tape - looked like a quick fix. Tried it on a drafty window in our 70s split-level, but honestly, it just slowed the leak for a bit. Ended up having to pull ...
