RE: Printing custom window latches: what worked for me
- I’ve actually had PETG last longer than expected outdoors, even on the south side, as long as I kept the infill high and walls thick (like 4 perimeters). Maybe I just got lucky with my filament brand? - Tried ASA a cou...
RE: Anyone else tried those layered sheer shades?
- Gave layered sheers a shot in my bedroom last winter. - Install was straightforward, but the static is no joke - every bit of pet hair and dust just clings to them. - I do like the diffused light, especially in the...
RE: Do DIY glass repair kits actually work or just a temporary fix?
- Noticed a lot of people mention patching small chips works okay, but I’m curious about the resin’s durability. Does weather (like hot summers or cold winters) make the repair fail faster? - For those who’ve tried it,...
RE: Worth it to go triple pane for subzero winters?
- Totally get what you mean about the “haunted by drafts” vibe… my 1950s place is the same. I keep thinking it’s the windows, but then I find cold spots in the weirdest places. - Tried sealing up my attic door last winte...

RE: Modern Window Upgrades in Old Houses: Worth the Trade-Off?
- 100% agree on the trim headaches. I’m working with 1920s casings and it’s wild how different the profiles are compared to what’s at the big box stores. - Custom millwork is pricey, but even with that, matching stain/fi...
RE: Letting in more light without roasting your living room
- Noticed the peeling too, especially on the bottom corners. Used double-sided tape because I don’t have a hair dryer, but it’s not perfect - might try that next time. - Surprised my succulents are still happy. Was worri...
RE: Regretting My ReliaBilt Choice? Long-Term Durability Woes
- Haven’t seen any actual fogging between the panes (yet), but I do get a bit of moisture on the inside glass when it’s super cold out. Not sure if that counts, or if it’s just my humidifier working overtime. - The seals...
RE: Why is outside noise STILL getting through my windows?
- That candle trick is actually pretty clever. I read about it on a home maintenance blog once but never tried it - guess I’m worried I’d set off the smoke alarm or something. - Here’s what’s confusing me: If drafts ar...
