RE: Things I wish I’d known before swapping out my old windows
I get where you’re coming from, but I’m not totally sold on HRVs being the magic bullet for everyone. I actually tracked my bills for a year after putting in new windows and beefing up insulation, and the savings were de...
RE: Would You Share Pics If Your Window Swap Made Your House Look Totally Different?
That funhouse wall thing is so real - my place is 1938 and nothing’s square. It’s always “measure twice, cut three times, swear, repeat.” But you’re right, new windows really do lift the whole space. It’s wild how an upg...
RE: Would You Share Pics If Your Window Swap Made Your House Look Totally Different?
I get the appeal of low-maintenance cladding, but I’m not convinced it’s always the best trade-off - especially for older homes. I’ve had to deal with some warped siding after a couple freeze-thaw cycles, and it ended up...
RE: Would you take out a loan just to get new windows?
I tend to agree - unless there’s structural damage, it’s hard to justify the cost of full window replacement. The payback period from “energy savings” is almost always longer than advertised, at least in my experience. O...

RE: Double vs triple pane windows - worth the extra cost or just hype?
Interesting point about the fiberglass frames - I hadn't considered how much frame material impacts overall insulation. Curious though, did you notice any significant noise reduction with double panes, or is that mostly ...
RE: Choosing Windows for a Fresh Farmhouse Look
I agree glossy frames can really enhance darker spaces - especially if natural light is limited. Still, it's worth considering glare issues in rooms with direct sunlight. We opted for glossy in shaded areas and matte els...
RE: Thinking about privacy glass for home windows - worth the hype?
I've been considering cordless cellular shades myself, but I'm curious - how effective are they at insulating against heat or cold compared to privacy film? My main concern right now is energy efficiency, especially duri...
RE: Window Contractor Transparency and Sales Experience in Tampa Bay
I saw Morgan Exteriors mentioned earlier – just to add another perspective, I used Morgan for my window project in 2022 and it went pretty smoothly. True, the sales guy was definitely a "sales guy" (came with the whole p...
