RE: Surprised to Learn Simonton Offers 0% Financing? Here’s What I Found
That’s the classic window domino effect - once you do a couple, the rest of the house suddenly feels draftier than ever. Did your installer mention anything about air balancing or insulation between phases? Sometimes peo...
RE: Anyone dealt with droopy window frames before?
That’s spot on. I’ve seen folks try to “just caulk it” and end up with a bigger headache later. Ever notice if the window lock doesn’t line up anymore? That’s usually my first clue the frame’s shifted more than just a li...
RE: IF YOU COULD UPGRADE YOUR WINDOWS TO A DIFFERENT GAS, WOULD YOU GO FANCY OR STICK WITH BASIC?
That matches what I’ve seen, honestly. I swapped out my old aluminum sliders for argon-filled double panes a couple winters ago. Noticed a difference in drafts and, like you mentioned, street noise dropped off too. But I...
RE: How I made my window upgrade affordable (without draining my savings)
Funny you mention that - I've actually switched back and forth a few times. Tape is way quicker, especially if you’re solo, but I’ve run into issues with adhesion in colder temps. Liquid flashing feels more forgiving if ...

RE: Salt air and window headaches: is it just me?
You nailed it about the salt air - anything metal that isn’t stainless just turns into a science experiment out here. I’ve seen so many folks try to save a few bucks with “weather-resistant” hardware, and then end up rep...
RE: Is upgrading to triple-pane windows just hype or actually smart?
I’ve actually tracked a few projects where folks swapped out old single-pane windows for triple-pane, and the numbers can be all over the place. One house I worked on - built in the 60s, drafty as heck - saw a noticeable...
RE: Is it really cheaper to swap your own windows? Real numbers wanted
That’s exactly the tricky part - folks focus so much on the window itself, but it’s really the air sealing that makes or breaks your comfort (and those bills). Did you check around the frame and sill too? Sometimes even ...
