RE: Little trick for keeping icy drafts out with older windows
Totally get this. I spent way too much on fancy weatherstripping my first winter and still ended up shoving an old towel along the sill. Rope caulk was way less hassle, and honestly, it just worked. Funny how the simple ...
RE: Dealing with sweaty windows: Which Energy Star brands actually help?
I totally get what you mean - when we moved in, the first winter was a shock with how much water pooled on the old aluminum sills. Switched to vinyl, and it helped, but honestly, the bathroom still gets foggy if I forget...
RE: Still looking good after years: aluminum windows holding up
I totally get the appeal of keeping the original aluminum windows. Mine are probably late-60s, and honestly, they’re still smooth to open and close. I did notice more noise from the street in winter, though. Tried those ...
RE: Does anyone else notice the greenish hue from low-e windows?
I get what you’re saying about the greenish tint, but honestly, I barely notice it in my place - and I’m pretty picky about colors. My living room has these deep blue walls and, weirdly, the low-e windows seem to make th...

RE: Double vs triple pane windows - worth the extra cost or just hype?
We went triple pane throughout last summer, and honestly, the biggest surprise was how much quieter it got inside. Cooling bills dipped slightly, maybe 5-10% tops? Hard to say exactly, but comfort-wise, totally worth it ...
RE: Thinking about privacy glass for home windows - worth the hype?
I totally get why privacy glass is appealing, especially with all that moisture in bathrooms. But honestly, I put up a decent-quality film in my kitchen window about two years ago, and it's still holding strong. Granted,...
RE: Finally upgraded my windows and loving the results
I feel your pain with the spray foam... I swear that stuff has a mind of its own. But honestly, I didn't notice much difference after sealing my outlets - maybe my walls are just paper-thin or something? Ended up hanging...
RE: Finally upgraded my windows and loving the results
Yeah, those sneaky drafts around outlets caught me off guard too. When I first moved into my place, I thought sealing the windows would be enough. But nope, still felt that chilly breeze near the couch. Took me forever t...
