RE: Why does mold love window sills so much?
Cracking the window after a shower is my go-to as well. I swear, the first winter after we put in new windows, it was like a rainforest on those sills. Yep, traded drafts for a science experiment in mold growth. My bath...
RE: Keeping the cold out: DIY window hacks for off-grid living
Tried the acrylic interior storm window thing a couple winters back - honestly, it worked better than I expected. Bit of a pain to get the measurements right (my windows are definitely not square), but it cut down drafts...
RE: Surprising History Behind Made-To-Order Blinds - Is It Worth It?
That line cracked me up because it’s painfully true. I’ve definitely stared at fresh holes in the trim thinking, “Well, guess we’re committed now.” Honestly, unless your windows are doing something wild, stock blinds usu...

Reading this thread brings back some memories I'd rather forget, haha. A couple years ago, I thought it'd be a great idea to restore the original wood windows on our old Victorian. You know, keep that authentic historic ...
RE: Easy ways to keep your windows from aging too fast
UV film definitely helps, but honestly, I've found that good old-fashioned curtains or blinds do the trick just as well. My grandma's house had these thick drapes she always kept closed during peak sunlight hours - her w...
RE: My quick list for stress-free window planning
Haha, I tried the checklist thing once but honestly, I kept forgetting to even look at it. Ended up scribbling measurements on my hand like I was back in middle school cheating on a test. Worked great until I washed my h...
