RE: Saw a news piece on folks fixing up old aluminum windows themselves - worth the effort?
Getting those old aluminum frames square again without yanking them out? Man, I’ve tried shims, clamps, prayers... nothing really holds up if they’re warped or twisted. The best I managed was on a tiny bathroom window, a...
RE: What made me stick with Andersen after shopping around
Totally get where you’re coming from - my place is a 1920s bungalow, and finding windows that didn’t scream “suburban office park” was weirdly hard. I went with Andersen too, mostly for those chunky wood frames. Price hu...

Totally get what you're saying about hidden costs sneaking up on you. I tackled a similar project last summer - thought I'd breeze through restoring some old sash windows. Ha, joke was on me. Between scraping off decades...
RE: Finally found peace from noisy traffic - my new windows did the trick
I feel this. We live right off a main road and spent ages trying to block traffic noise with everything from heavy curtains to rearranging furniture (like our couch was gonna magically absorb the sound waves or something...
