RE: Exterior Condensation on New Windows: Normal Dew or a Window Problem?
The key distinction is whether the moisture is just beading on the glass or collecting and pooling in the sill. Beads across the exterior pane that disappear after the sun comes up are usually just dew. Water sitting in...
RE: Surprised to Learn Simonton Offers 0% Financing? Here’s What I Found
That “0% financing” pitch gets tossed around so much in the window world, it’s almost like clockwork. I’ve seen folks get pretty excited about it - until they realize the sticker shock on the cash price. You’d think it’d...
RE: Anyone else notice the greenish tint on new energy-efficient windows?
That “sickly” look is real - low-E glass does have a slight tint, especially noticeable on cloudy days. I’ve seen people go nuts repainting before realizing it’s the light, not the wall. Honestly, I’ll take a greenish hu...
RE: Quick tricks for holding a cracked window together?
Packing tape’s fine in a pinch, but I’ve seen it peel off when temps swing or if there’s any moisture. Honestly, I’ve had better luck with clear silicone caulk for sealing up cracks temporarily - it holds better, doesn’t...
RE: No more rattling windows - my upgrade to laminated glass paid off

RE: Salt air and window headaches: is it just me?
Can’t tell you how many “stainless” screws I’ve pulled out that looked like they’d been at the bottom of the ocean. I’ve never tried sacrificial anodes on house windows - feels a bit like bringing a bazooka to a knife fi...
RE: Vinyl vs. fiberglass windows in the wild - what’s really easier?
You nailed it - sun exposure is brutal on vinyl, especially on west-facing walls. I’ve seen plenty of “wavy gravy” frames after a few hot summers. Honestly, even the best vinyl can’t always handle those swings without so...
RE: Picking the right window color for curb appeal - regrets or wins?
You nailed it about the glass making the real difference. I’ve swapped out plenty of windows for folks who were worried about dark frames turning their living rooms into saunas, but once we put in quality low-E glass and...
RE: Keeping windows clear when the air feels like soup
Man, you’re not alone. I’ve seen every “miracle” trick out there and most just end up making the window look worse - or smell weirder. Honestly, wiping it down in the morning is underrated. Sometimes low-tech is the only...
