Imagine you’re in a tiny apartment above a 24/7 taco joint, and the late-night crowd is getting rowdy again. You’ve got, like, $20 and no time for fancy window upgrades. What’s your move? Bubble wrap taped to the glass? Piles of pillows stacked against the frame? I’m picturing a whole Rube Goldberg setup with blankets, yoga mats, maybe even an old pizza box... What would you try next in this scenario?

Honestly, you’re not crazy for trying all those things—sometimes you just have to get creative with what you’ve got. Bubble wrap can help a bit, but I’d say layering thick blankets or even a spare rug right up against the window frame will probably muffle more sound. It won’t be perfect, but every little bit helps when you’re desperate for sleep. Hang in there, you’ll figure out a hack that works for you.

Has anyone here actually had any luck with the whole blanket-over-the-window trick? I tried it last winter, hoping it’d help with both noise and drafts, but honestly, I couldn’t tell much difference. Maybe my windows are just that bad... or maybe I didn’t use thick enough blankets? I keep wondering if those stick-on foam strips around the frame would do more for sound than piling up fabric. Anyone else notice that rugs or blankets just seem to dampen echoes in the room, not really block street noise?
