I get the appeal of small fixes—definitely less mess and way cheaper up front. But sometimes, those incremental upgrades just can’t compensate for seriously outdated insulation or single-pane windows. I tried the caulk-and-draft-snake routine for years in my 1950s ranch, but honestly, the thermal imaging camera told the real story. Ended up biting the bullet on new windows and dense-pack cellulose in the walls. Pricey, yeah, but my heating bill dropped by almost half. Guess it’s a balance... quick fixes are great, but sometimes you gotta go big if the structure’s just not up to it.
