anyone else confused about filing for energy efficient home credits?

Last year, I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my windows and insulation to make the house more energy-efficient. Felt pretty good about it until tax season rolled around...um, turns out claiming that energy credit isn't as straightforward as I thought. The forms were kinda confusing, and I had to double-check everything like three times. Wondering if anyone else ran into similar headaches or if it's just me missing something obvious here?

I totally get where you're coming from - I went through the same thing last year. Thought I'd done everything right after putting in a new energy-efficient furnace, but when tax time came around, I was scratching my head for hours. The forms were way more complicated than I expected, and the instructions weren't exactly clear either.
