would you replace original windows in an old house or keep the charm?

I've actually run into moisture issues behind cladding before—here's what I've noticed:

- Proper flashing and sealing around the windows is key. If that's done poorly, water sneaks in and stays trapped.
- Ventilation matters too. Some cladding systems have tiny weep holes or drainage channels; if those get blocked, you're asking for trouble.
- Had one window where the wood underneath was mush after just 8 years... not fun.

Bottom line: cladding can help, but it's no magic bullet. Installation details make or break it.
