I was thinking earlier, what if one day my window hardware just decides to jam completely or starts squeaking loud enough to wake the neighbors... um, anyone got quick fixes or tricks they swear by?

Had this happen last summer, drove me nuts. Quick fix: silicone spray lubricant—just a quick spritz along the tracks and hinges usually does the trick. WD-40 works too, but silicone lasts longer and doesn't attract dirt.
Yep, silicone spray's definitely the way to go. Just make sure you wipe down the tracks first—dust and grime can build up and make things worse. Learned that the hard way after spraying over dirt...sticky mess.
