Window security tech that's smarter than I thought
Discussion options
Was chatting with a friend yesterday and he mentioned these window lock sensor things that can actually tell if your window is just slightly open or fully closed. I always assumed they were just basic "open or shut" sensors, you know? But apparently some newer ones can detect vibrations or even attempts at forced entry. Pretty neat stuff, but now I'm wondering how reliable these actually are in real life situations... anyone tried these yet?

I've actually installed a few of these newer sensors at home, and they're surprisingly accurate. They pick up even subtle vibrations - like when my neighbor's kid accidentally hit our window with a soccer ball. Definitely worth considering if you're upgrading your security setup.
Interesting to hear they're that sensitive. I installed something similar for a client recently, and it kept triggering whenever their dog jumped against the window chasing squirrels. Took us forever to figure out what was setting it off... ended up adjusting the sensitivity settings quite a bit. Did you have to tweak yours at all, or did they work fine straight out of the box?
