I kinda wondered the same about climate. My house is in a pretty humid area, and I’ve noticed the seals on a couple windows looking rough after just 8 years. Didn’t use any film, so that lines up with your point:

My gut says high humidity does more damage to seals than film ever could.
Has anyone tried those dehumidifier packs for windows, or is that just a gimmick? I’m not sure if it actually helps or just makes me feel better.

Honestly, those window dehumidifier packs are mostly a placebo. They might soak up a little moisture right by the glass, but they’re not gonna solve the bigger issue if your seals are already shot. In my experience, high humidity will wreck seals over time no matter what—especially in older homes or places with poor ventilation. If you want real results, look at whole-room dehumidifiers or improving airflow. The little packs are like putting a band-aid on a leaky roof... not really fixing the problem.
