vinyl windows acting weird in summer heat?

I've noticed my vinyl windows seem a bit off during the hottest days—like they're not closing quite right or something. Thought it was just me being paranoid, but now I'm wondering if heat actually messes with them. Anyone else notice this?

Nah, you're not paranoid—vinyl definitely expands a bit in the heat. Had the same issue last summer. Usually sorts itself out when temps drop, but adjusting the hardware slightly can help if it's really bugging you.

Yeah, vinyl windows definitely react to heat—seen it plenty of times. A few things I've noticed:

- Direct sunlight makes it worse. Windows facing south or west tend to warp or stick more noticeably.
- If the window frames are darker colors, they absorb more heat and expand more noticeably. Had a neighbor repaint theirs white, and it actually helped a bit.
- Sometimes the issue isn't just expansion but also the seals getting softer in high temps, making the windows feel "sticky" or harder to open smoothly.
- Adjusting hardware can help temporarily, but if it's a recurring issue, you might wanna check if the windows were installed with enough clearance for expansion. A buddy of mine had his installer come back and shave off a tiny bit of vinyl—problem solved.

Usually it's nothing serious, just annoying. But if it keeps happening every summer, might be worth looking into a more permanent fix.
