Awesome outcome! This thread has been super educational. I’m about to start my own quote process armed with a lot more knowledge than I had before. Big thanks to everyone.
@robertblogger, please circle back when it’s all done. I’m particularly interested in how you find the Simonton windows and just overall satisfaction. It’s likely I’ll be contacting the same companies when my time comes (and I’ll mention I heard about them from "a friend" on a forum, haha).

Good luck and thanks for sharing your journey!

This has been one of the best discussions I’ve seen on here. Really useful info for anyone in Florida thinking about window replacements.
Congrats @robertblogger, I think you’ll be happy. You’ve basically future-proofed your home for at least the next couple of decades against storms and whatnot.

And on the bright side, you won’t have to scramble for plywood or shutters if a big hurricane warning comes – just stock up on snacks and hunker down behind those impact windows. 😉

Enjoy the new windows (once they’re in), and hope the install goes smoothly. Don’t forget to update us!

I’ll echo everyone else – great thread and congrats on the decision. It’s sort of satisfying as a group to see it all come together, lol. We all went on this window-buying journey with you!
This will definitely help me when I do mine. I might even reach out to Karoly and ProTech for quotes when ready, since they seem to consistently win praise.

Stay safe this hurricane season, all. And here’s to lower AC bills and less outside noise for many years to come. 👍

I’m late to the party on the final update, but I just read through it and it sounds great. Good choice, @robertblogger.
Given everything, I would have done the same. Karoly’s been a fixture in this area for a while, and that price is competitive.

Also, shout-out to everyone who contributed. This thread is sticky-worthy for sure. It’s got real numbers, real experiences, and a local focus – exactly what people need when tackling window projects.

Alright, I’ll stop mod-baiting now. 😅 Thanks again all, and @robertblogger, cheers to your new windows – may your home be safe, efficient, and comfortable for years to come! 🍻

Couldn’t agree more @donaldevans5. This turned into a treasure trove of information. I’m happy I asked and grateful to everyone who took the time to share knowledge.
I’ll definitely keep lurking on the forum and will report back post-install. Maybe I can pay it forward and help the next person who comes along with questions.

Cheers everyone, and thank you! 🍻 Let’s all hope for a calm hurricane season – but if not, at least some of us have new impact windows to weather the storm. 😉
