Thinking about adding some window sensors around the house, but kinda overwhelmed by all the options. Anyone got a setup that's working smoothly with Alexa or Google? Preferably something easy to install, because I'm not exactly Bob the Builder here, haha.
I've tried a few setups, and honestly, simple is best for window sensors. A couple quick thoughts:
- Wyze sensors: Cheap, easy install (literally peel-and-stick), and they play nice with Alexa. Been running these about a year, no complaints yet.
- Aqara sensors: Also straightforward, but you'll need their hub. Works smoothly with both Alexa and Google. Slightly pricier, but battery life is impressive.
- Ring sensors: Good if you're already in the Ring ecosystem. Easy setup, reliable alerts, but a bit bulkier than the others.
Iβd skip anything that requires drilling or complicated wiringβbeen there, done that, not worth the headache (or the holes in your window frames...).
