I’ve seen more walls chewed up by “simple” upgrades than I care to admit—patching drywall is practically a rite of passage at this point. With hardwired blinds, it really depends on how your house is wired and the age of the place. In some newer builds, you might get lucky and find a circuit nearby, but most of the time, you’re fishing new runs for each window if you want it done right. I’ve tried piggybacking off outlets before, but it can get dicey with code and load limits.

Wireless battery options are getting better, but hardwired is still king for reliability. The real pain is when you hit unexpected fire blocks or insulation—feels like every wall has a surprise waiting. Did you run into any weird obstacles when you did your thermostat? Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the hassle, but then again, not having to recharge blinds every few months is pretty appealing...
