Been looking into replacing some windows and kinda overwhelmed by all the options from Pella. Curious what most folks here lean towards... wood, fiberglass, vinyl? Feel free to drop a comment why you picked yours.
We went with fiberglass (Pella Impervia) a couple years back and honestly, zero regrets. I was tempted by wood at first because, let's face it, they look amazing... but then I remembered how much I hate maintenance. Fiberglass seemed like a good middle ground—durable, energy-efficient, and still looks pretty sharp.
Have you thought about your climate? We're in the Midwest, so we get the full buffet of weather—hot summers, freezing winters, storms—you name it. Fiberglass holds up great through all that without warping or fading. Vinyl's cheaper, sure, but I've seen some neighbors' vinyl windows fade and warp over time. Wood is gorgeous but needs TLC to stay that way.
Also, installation matters a ton. Are you planning to DIY or hire someone? We did ours ourselves (with some help from YouTube and a patient spouse 😂), and fiberglass was pretty forgiving for first-timers.
