Been trying to decide between Weather Shield and Marvin windows for our remodel, and honestly, it's driving me nuts. Every time I think I've settled on one, I read some horror story online about leaks or warranty issues or whatever. And the prices...geez. Feels like I'm picking between two expensive headaches. Anyone else been stuck in this loop or have some real-world experience to share?
"Feels like I'm picking between two expensive headaches."
Yeah, totally get that frustrationβwent through the same thing last year. Have you checked out the energy efficiency ratings on both? Marvin tends to edge out Weather Shield slightly on insulation and air leakage, at least from what I've seen. Might be worth considering if you're in a climate with extreme temps. Still pricey though, no getting around that...
I remember going through this exact dilemma a couple years back when we redid our sunroom. Honestly, both brands felt overpriced at first glance, and I kept second-guessing myself. Ended up choosing Marvin mostly because of the slightly better insulation ratings (winters here get brutal), but I still wonder sometimes if Weather Shield would've been just as good. Installation quality probably matters just as much anywayβhad a neighbor who splurged on premium windows but hired a sketchy contractor, and now he's dealing with leaks and drafts. So whichever you pick, make sure the installer's solid. Either way, it's a tough call...windows shouldn't cause this much stress, right?
