- Agree with you on the sealsβ€”people underestimate how much difference fresh weatherstripping can make. I've seen clients surprised by how much warmer their rooms feel after just replacing old, cracked seals.
- Double-pane argon windows are decent, but they're not miracle workers. If your house wasn't drafty to start with, the savings will be modest at best. Usually, the worse your windows are initially, the more noticeable the improvement.
- Acoustic glass is a step up for noise reduction, but it's pricey. Unless traffic noise is really bothering you, it might not justify the extra cost. I've had customers who swear by it, but others barely notice a difference.
- Honestly, if energy savings is your main goal, insulation and sealing air leaks around doors, attic hatches, and even electrical outlets can sometimes give you more bang for your buck than new windows.
- Bottom line: new windows can help, but they're rarely a quick payoff. It's more about comfort and long-term value than immediate savings.
