We installed Jeld-Wen windows and doors about 6 years ago when we remodeled our place. The installation itself wasn't too bad—pretty straightforward actually. We prepped the openings, made sure everything was level, shimmed carefully, sealed with expanding foam (the low-expansion stuff, learned that lesson the hard way lol), and finished off with some good-quality flashing tape. Honestly, the process wasn't rocket science, just took patience and attention to detail.
But here's the thing: fast forward to now, and we're noticing some drafts and a bit of condensation on colder days. I'm wondering if it's just normal wear-and-tear or if maybe we missed something during installation. Or maybe it's just the product itself? I dunno.
Curious if anyone else has had similar experiences with Jeld-Wen—did you do anything differently during install that made a difference long-term? Or is there another brand you'd recommend instead? Just trying to figure out if it's worth sticking with them or looking elsewhere next time around.
Had similar issues with Jeld-Wen after about 5 years—cold drafts mostly. Honestly, I think their seals just don't hold up long-term. Switched to Andersen on our last reno... pricier, but zero regrets so far.
