Random fact I stumbled across today: apparently, poorly installed windows can lose up to 30% of your home's heating and cooling energy. Like, that's a lot of wasted money flying out the window (pun intended, sorry lol). Anyway, got me thinking about finally replacing mine. Anyone here had good experiences with local window installers? Or horror stories...those are always fun too, haha.

Yeah, learned this the hard way myself. Replaced mine last year - noticed a real difference in comfort and bills. Just make sure to check reviews carefully...some installers cut corners. Good luck!

Reviews are useful, but I’d also have each installer spell out exactly how they’ll install the windows, not just which brand they use. Ask about flashing, shimming, insulation, and interior/exterior sealing, since that’s where a lot of the comfort and air-leakage problems start.

I’d get the warranty details in writing too: what’s covered by the window manufacturer, what the installer guarantees, and who handles it if the glass and frame are fine but the installation leaks or causes damage. That distinction can save a lot of arguing later.
