Just finished installing composite windows in my house last weekend—honestly, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. First, I measured everything twice (okay, maybe three times, lol), then removed the old frames carefully to avoid damaging the siding. Used shims to level the new windows, sealed them up tight with expanding foam, and finished with some nice trim. Pretty happy with the results, but I'm curious if anyone else tackled this differently or has tips to make it easier next time?

Haha, measuring multiple times is definitely the way to go—saved me more than once from some embarrassing mistakes. Sounds like you did a solid job overall. Personally, I'm still a bit skeptical about composite windows being worth the extra cost compared to vinyl or wood, but if you're happy with how they turned out and installation wasn't too painful, that's a win in my book.

One thing I'd probably do differently is skip the expanding foam next time. Had a bad experience once where I got a little trigger-happy and ended up warping the frame slightly...lesson learned. Now I stick mostly to low-expansion foam or even just good-quality caulk for sealing gaps. But hey, if yours came out clean and level, maybe you've got steadier hands than me.

Anyway, nice work tackling it yourself—always satisfying when DIY projects turn out better than expected.
