Been looking into fiberglass windows lately since our old wooden ones are getting pretty drafty (and honestly, I'm tired of repainting them every few years, lol). I've heard good things about Marvin and Pella, but also came across some mixed reviews too. Thought I'd throw up a quick poll to see what you guys prefer:
Which fiberglass window brand do you trust most for quality and durability?
- Marvin
- Pella
- Andersen
- Milgard
- Other (mention below)
Feel free to share your experiences or horror stories too, haha.
I've installed a ton of fiberglass windows over the years, and here's my quick take:
- Marvin: Solid build quality, consistent performance, rarely had callbacks.
- Pella: Decent, but I've seen some issues with seals failing prematurely.
- Andersen: Good overall, but their fiberglass line isn't as extensive as Marvin's.
- Milgard: Great value for money, reliable warranty support.
If budget allows, Marvin's usually my go-to. Otherwise, Milgard offers solid bang for your buck.
Good breakdown, matches my experience pretty closely. Marvin's fiberglass line has always been rock solid for me—can't remember the last time I had to go back and fix something after install. Andersen's decent enough, but yeah, their fiberglass options are kinda limited. Usually end up steering folks toward Marvin if they're set on fiberglass.
Pella... eh, I've had mixed results. Had a job last year where two windows had seal issues within six months. Warranty covered it, but still a hassle I didn't need. Maybe just bad luck, but it left me a bit wary.
Milgard surprised me though. Installed a bunch for a client who was tight on budget about three years ago, and honestly expected callbacks—but nope, nothing yet. They're holding up great and the homeowner's still happy. For the price point, they're tough to beat.
One brand you didn't mention is Inline Fiberglass. Not as common maybe, but I've used them a couple times and they've been solid performers. Bit pricier than Milgard but cheaper than Marvin usually... might be worth checking out if you haven't already.
Overall though, gotta agree—Marvin if the wallet allows, Milgard if you're watching pennies. Can't really go wrong with either in my book.
