Triple pane windows—worth the hype or just marketing fluff?

Been thinking about upgrading my windows lately, and triple pane keeps popping up everywhere. I mean, I get the idea—better insulation, quieter rooms, lower energy bills, yada yada. But let's say you had to pick a brand tomorrow and stick with it for the next 20 years... who would you trust? I've heard mixed things about Andersen and Pella—some swear by them, others say they're overpriced. And then there's Marvin and Milgard, which seem solid but maybe not as flashy.

Hypothetically speaking, if money wasn't the main issue (though let's be real, it always kinda is), and you had to rely on these windows in some crazy scenario like a sudden ice age or zombie apocalypse (hey, insulation matters!), who would you trust to keep your home cozy and safe? Curious if anyone's had personal experience with durability or customer service from these brands—or maybe there's another hidden gem out there I'm overlooking.

Honestly, I've been down this rabbit hole recently myself. Andersen and Pella do have their loyal fans, but I ended up leaning toward Marvin after reading a ton of reviews. They seem to strike a good balance—solid build quality without feeling like you're just paying for the brand name. Plus, my neighbor installed Marvin triple panes last winter and swears they're worth every penny... his heating bill dropped noticeably, and his place feels way quieter now.

- Totally agree on Marvin—installed them two years ago, zero regrets.
- Noticeably warmer rooms, especially upstairs bedrooms.
- Also, way less condensation on cold mornings... definitely worth it if comfort matters.

Couldn't agree more about the condensation—noticed the same thing after installing triple panes last winter. One thing I'd add is to pay close attention to sealing around the frames during installation. Even the best windows won't perform well if there's air leakage around them. I used expanding foam and quality flashing tape, and that made a noticeable difference in drafts and overall warmth. Worth taking your time to get it right...
