If your old wooden windows start sticking or the frame's a bit wonky, I've found that sliding in a couple wood shims before repainting can really help square things up. Not perfect, but it kept me from tearing out half the wall. Anybody else got tricks for dealing with droopy window frames without a full rebuild?

Honestly, shims are a solid quick fix, but have you ever tried using weatherstripping or foam tape too? Sometimes the draft is worse than the sticking, especially in older houses. I did the shim thing last fall and it helped with the frame, but I still had cold air sneaking in. Ended up adding some V-seal weatherstripβcheap and made a noticeable difference. Not perfect, but way less hassle than a full tear-out. Anyone else notice shims sometimes make it trickier to open the window after?
