I'm finally getting around to updating the inside of my house, and I'm stuck on window trims. The ones I have now are pretty basic builder-grade stuff, kinda boring and honestly a bit beat up after years of kids and pets banging into them. I've been looking at different styles online—craftsman, colonial, modern minimalist—but I'm having trouble picturing what would actually look good in my space.
My house is sort of transitional style, not super modern but definitely not old-school traditional either. I'm leaning toward something clean and simple, but still want it to have some character, you know? Also wondering about materials—should I stick with wood or go for MDF or something else? I've heard mixed things about durability and painting ease.
If anyone's recently redone their window trims or has opinions on what works well (or doesn't), I'd really appreciate hearing about it. Pictures would be awesome too if you have them handy. I'm feeling kinda overwhelmed by all the options out there.

Totally get where you're coming from—craftsman-style trims strike a nice balance. MDF's fine for painting, but if durability's a big concern (pets, kids...), real wood holds up better long-term.
