WINDOW TRIM INSTALLATION - IS IT REALLY AS EASY AS YOUTUBE MAKES IT LOOK?

I've been watching a bunch of videos lately about installing window trim myself because, honestly, the quotes I've gotten from local carpenters are kinda steep. YouTube makes it look like a breeze - measure, cut, nail, caulk, paint, done. But I'm skeptical. I mean, these people have probably done it a hundred times before filming, right?

My windows are pretty standard-sized, nothing fancy or curved or anything weird. But I'm worried about getting those clean corners and making sure everything lines up nice and neat. Plus, I don't own a nail gun - just a regular hammer and nails. Is that gonna make things way harder? Or is it doable with basic tools?

Anyone here tackled their own window trim and lived to tell the tale? Would love some honest feedback before I dive in and potentially ruin my weekend (and my walls).

Did my own window trim a couple years back - also inspired by YouTube optimism, lol. Honestly, it's doable with basic tools, but patience is key. Without a nail gun, you'll spend extra time making sure nails are flush without denting the wood (been there...). Corners can be tricky; measure twice, cut once, and expect to use a bit more caulk than the pros do. Definitely manageable, just don't rush it and you'll be fine.

Haha, this is spot-on. First time I tackled window trim, I underestimated those corners big time... ended up with gaps that caulk had to heroically rescue. But honestly, once you get the hang of it, it's pretty satisfying work.
