Custom windows can get pricey, but sometimes just swapping out the sashes (if your frames aren’t rotted) is a decent middle ground. Rope caulk’s not bad for drafts, but it can leave a little residue if you don’t pull it off before spring hits—nothing major, just a heads up. Ever try shrink film kits? Not perfect, but they’ve saved me from a few icy drafts in a pinch.
