- Had to get a 100lb window down a tight staircase last winter. Used cut-up pool noodles for padding—cheap and surprisingly effective.
- Tried borrowing a stair-climbing dolly from a neighbor. It worked, but honestly, maneuvering around the landing was still sketchy.
- Agree on the “friend with nerves of steel” part. Bribed mine with pizza… still not sure he’s forgiven me.
- Personally, I’d skip pulleys unless you’re really confident in your setup. Too many things can go sideways fast.
- For anyone solo: extra time spent on padding and clear paths is worth it. One slip and it’s not just the window that’s toast.
