Okay, so last weekend I finally caved and ordered from Lou Malnati's after hearing about it forever. Um, I gotta say, I wasn't really prepared for what showed up at my door. First off, the pizza weighed like a ton. Seriously, lifting the box felt like a mini workout. And when I opened it, it was like a pizza casserole or something—super thick crust, tons of cheese, sauce on top. Definitely not what I'm used to.
Taste-wise, it was pretty good actually, but after two slices I felt like I needed a nap. Like, is this normal? Do people actually eat this regularly or is it more of a special occasion thing? I'm usually more into thin crust pizzas where you can eat half the pie without feeling like you're gonna pass out.
Anyone else feel this way about deep dish, or am I just weak sauce?
"after two slices I felt like I needed a nap"
Haha, totally normal. Deep dish is basically a pizza coma waiting to happen. I lived in Chicago for a couple years, and even locals don't eat it regularly—more like a once-in-a-while indulgence. Thin crust is definitely easier to handle regularly, but deep dish is perfect when you're craving something hearty and don't mind zoning out on the couch afterward.

Haha, relatable! Deep dish is definitely a "clear your schedule" kind of pizza. Last time I tackled a couple slices, I ended up postponing my afternoon DIY project...just couldn't move off the couch. Thin crust is great for productivity, but sometimes you just gotta embrace the carb-induced downtime. Nothing wrong with a tasty excuse to relax now and then.
