Been thinking about replacing the old wooden windows in my house with vinyl ones, mostly because I'm tired of repainting and dealing with rot issues. But here's the thing—I'm down south, and summers here are basically like living in a sauna. Humidity is off the charts, you know? I've heard vinyl windows are supposed to be low-maintenance and all that jazz, but I'm kinda skeptical about how they'll actually hold up long-term in this kind of weather. My neighbor put some in a couple years back, and they still look decent, but that's just two years. I'm wondering if anyone here has had vinyl windows for longer—like 5 or 10 years—in a humid climate. Do they warp or discolor over time? Any issues with mold or mildew sneaking into the frames? I'd hate to spend money on something that's gonna give me headaches later on. Any experiences or advice would be awesome.

I've seen that happen before, especially with harsh cleaners or anything abrasive. Are you using something ammonia-based by chance? Those can sometimes react weirdly with vinyl and cause discoloration over time. I usually stick to mild soap and water myself—boring, I know, but it works. Has anyone tried vinegar solutions or something more natural? Curious if those hold up better in humid climates...
