We're finally getting around to replacing the windows in our house (yay, adulting), and I'm kinda stuck on what type of material holds up best in humid weather. We live in a pretty muggy area, summers are brutal, and I've noticed our current wooden frames are starting to warp and look kinda sad. I've heard vinyl is good, but then someone else mentioned fiberglass or aluminum might be better. Honestly, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there.
Anyone here have experience with windows that actually survive humidity without turning into a maintenance nightmare? I'd love to hear what worked (or didn't) for you guys before I commit to anything expensive.
We switched from wood to vinyl about four years ago, and honestly, it's been a huge relief. Summers here are super humid too, and our old wooden frames were constantly swelling and stickingβtotal pain. Vinyl has held up great so far, no warping or peeling paint to deal with. I've heard fiberglass is even tougher, but it was pricier at the time we looked. Aluminum can be durable too, but friends mentioned condensation issues...so we skipped that option. Overall, vinyl's been solid for us without breaking the bank.
