I hear you on the combo approach—cellulars plus blackout curtains made a big difference in my kid’s room. Not the prettiest setup, but it actually helped keep the temp down during that brutal July heatwave. I’ve looked at exterior shades too, but my HOA is weird about stuff on the outside of windows. If you’re stuck with what you’ve got, sometimes it’s just about layering and living with the look. At least the electric bill doesn’t hurt as much now.
