anyone else swapping out windows cuz of the heat wave?

I was chatting with my neighbor yesterday, and he mentioned something kinda interesting. Apparently, when it's super hot outside (like this insane heat wave we're having right now), it's actually a pretty good time to replace your old windows. I always figured you'd wanna wait till spring or fall when the weather's mild, you know? But turns out there's actually some logic behind doing it when it's scorching.
He said something about how the heat makes materials expand a bit, so when installers put in new windows during hot weather, they can make sure the fit is snug without gaps. Then, when things cool down again, the materials contract slightly and seal up even tighter. Sounds logical enough, but honestly I'd never thought about it before.
Also, apparently window companies aren't as busy during peak summer because everyone assumes it's a bad time to do replacements. So you might get better deals or quicker appointments. I'm not sure if that's true everywhere or just around here, but it sounded plausible.
Anyway, it got me thinking about finally ditching my ancient single-pane windows. They're practically useless at keeping the heat out - my AC is struggling big time. But then again, I'm not thrilled about having my house wide open in 100-degree weather while they swap 'em out.
Has anyone else heard about this hot-weather-window thing? Or maybe you've actually done it yourself? I'm curious if it's worth the hassle or if I should just wait till things cool down a bit.

Haha, yeah that's the part that'd give me pause too... but honestly, biting the bullet now might save your AC from an early grave. Plus, quicker appointments sound tempting. Might be worth sweating it out for a day or two?
Yeah, totally get that hesitation - had mine swapped last summer and it was brutal for a day. But honestly, the difference afterward was night and day. AC wasn't running nonstop anymore, and my electric bill dropped noticeably. If you can schedule it early morning or late afternoon, it helps a bit with the heat... but either way, it's worth the short-term discomfort.
