- Sill pans are helpful, but I’ve actually had better luck with exterior caulking and flashing tape, especially around older wood windows.
- Sometimes the leak isn’t even the window—it’s the siding or trim above it. Found that out the hard way when I kept patching the wrong spot.
- I get wanting to check every storm, but after I redid the flashing, I finally stopped worrying so much. Might be worth a try if you haven’t already.
- Not saying sill pans aren’t useful, just think sometimes the problem’s higher up than we guess...
