Had a similar experience—tape was a nightmare mid-storm. Ended up rigging a plastic sheet temporarily to divert water away till things settled down. Ever tried something makeshift like that as a quick fix?

Yeah, done something similar a few times. Plastic sheeting or even heavy-duty garbage bags can save you in a pinch. Just staple or nail them down tight—tape rarely holds up once things get wet.

Did you find staples held up okay? Last time I tried, the wind ripped right through. Ended up sandwiching the plastic between two strips of wood—worked way better and saved me a headache later...
