Big windows vs heating bills - worth it?

For a useful comparison, look at the proposed window’s whole-unit U-factor and solar heat-gain coefficient, and account for the area of window and insulated wall being replaced. Orientation and shading matter too: a large north-facing window generally gets little direct winter sun, while a sunny, unshaded exposure may gain more. That gives a better basis for weighing daylight against heating impact than pane count alone.
