Can solar-control film affect the sound that gets through a window?

A film can cut glare or solar heat, but I’m unsure whether those optical and thermal benefits tell us anything useful about sound transmission. Could the film’s effect on noise depend on the type of film and the glass it’s applied to, or are the acoustic results generally independent of its solar performance?

If a seller cites a sound rating, should it apply to the filmed glass assembly, rather than the film by itself? I’d like to know what kind of measured comparison would be meaningful, especially when the goal is to improve glare or heat control without accidentally making a noise problem worse.
